Sea Ice Again?

Published under Climate Change

The bunny has a new post today about sea ice. Seems like an odd time for sea ice news - seeing as how we’re neither at the minimum or maximum time of year. However, since it did show up in my inbox, let’s take a look at the sea ice extent.

I’d say the trio is still on top against Romm in the sea ice bet.

You’ll be looking a long time to get extent out of that plot. :)

Recall that the bet is on the summer minimum and that the modelers seem to think it’s reasonable for there to be a modest ice-free summer period even while the winter ice recivers more or less completely. Also, subsequent to your December 4th post the wily Maslowski projected an ice-free summer by 2013. All in all it may be a bit premature to say that Joe’s in bad shape.
